Primary and Intermediate (Years 1–8) / Kura Tuatahi, Assistant Principal We believe that the tamariki at our kura are the heart of everything we do. We are a bilingual school offering Level 2 Te Reo immersion teaching Te Marautanga o Aotearoa curriculum as well as having English medium classes that teach the New Zealand Curriculum . Our kura acknowledges the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and the bicultural foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand. All tamariki at Waitara East have the opportunity to acquire knowledge of te reo Maori me Te Atiawatanga. We understand that the experiences and interactions tamariki are immersed in daily at our school influence shape and support them to grow and develop. We aim to ensure our tamariki leave our kura living our school values of M.A.N.A. and our Graduate Profile of Kei te Tu, Kei te Ora, Kei te Ako. Assistant Principal Role The Assistant Principal plays a key role in the leadership team at Waitara East School. They will support the Principal and Deputy Principal in providing effective leadership and management of the school. We are inviting candidates that bring a range of skills and experiences to this role in some or all of the following areas: Has experience/understanding of Level 2 Bilingual education Holds a high level of Digital Fluency and an understanding of the Manaiakalani kaupapa would be an advantage Has understanding of PB4L Has an understanding of restorative practice Has knowledge of inquiry based teaching and learning Is able to implement culturally responsive practices This position will be a mixture of class teaching and walking release.
