(Assistant) Manager for busy 5-star waterfront hostelWe are looking for either an assistant manager to then step into the role of manager after a period of training OR if you have experience in the youth accommodation sector then the manager role can start immediately.About the roleAs the (Assistant) Manager for Wanderlust NZ's busy 5-star waterfront hostel in Tauranga, Central Bay of Plenty, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring an exceptional experience for our guests. This is a full-time position that will see you working closely with the General Manager to uphold our high standards of hospitality and customer service.What you'll be doingSupervising and coordinating the front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance teams to deliver seamless guest experiences.Overseeing front office operations, including check-in/check-out, reservations, and guest enquiries.Monitoring and managing inventory, budgets, and financial reporting.Implementing and upholding standard operating procedures to ensure operational excellence.Identifying opportunities for process improvements and contributing to the development of strategic plans.Fostering a positive, collaborative work environment and providing support and training to the team.Addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.What we're looking forMinimum 2-3 years' experience in a similar assistant manager or supervisory role within the industry.Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to liaise effectively with guests and staff.Sound financial acumen and budget management experience.Proficiency in using hotel management software and other relevant technology; must be computer savvy and proficient in social media to increase the hostel's visibility through events and promotions.Passion for delivering exceptional customer service and creating memorable experiences.Flexible and adaptable approach to handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels (ability to speak multiple languages is a bonus).About usWanderlust NZ is a leading provider of 5-star hostel accommodations in some of New Zealand's most stunning destinations.
