A pivotal opportunity has become available for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Whangarei team and support our Commercial Manager in delivering exceptional commercial, operational, and financial outcomes for our Northland Contracting Business.
The role You will provide high-quality management accounting services to support the Commercial Manager and Northland Operations team in managerial planning and commercial decision-making.
You will also contribute to finance business partnering and process improvement and manage various duties to meet reporting deadlines with accuracy, a keen eye for detail, and a desire to improve and promote a shared understanding of outcomes.
Furthermore, specific responsibilities include: Complete month-end processes, including WIP accruals and reconciliations Assist with budgeting and forecasting Support pricing review and adjustment Accounts Receivables Management Oversee fixed assets and capex budget control Conduct cost analysis and reporting What's in it for you?

You will enjoy working with a close-knit team and be self-motivated and result-oriented.
To succeed, you will be able to convert complex data into actionable insights for operations and delivery managers.
Your qualifications and skills should include: Bachelor's degree in commerce/accounting While not mandatory, pursuing professional qualifications like CA or CPA is advantageous Minimum of 3-5 years of financial/management accounting experience, preferably in the utilities or contracting industry Experience in ERP/MRP systems – JDE preferred Advanced Excel expertise and competency in MS Office Natural affinity for collaboration and building relationships to influence positive outcomes Robust numerical and analytical skills and business acumen A critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills Excellent communication (written and verbal) An aptitude to foresee challenges, read situations and champion best practices About Us Northpower is an electricity and fibre network provider for Whangarei and Kaipara, with more than 60,000 connected customers.
