As we transition our Mangawhai Library from a community-operated to a council-operated branch, Kaipara Libraries now has two openings for part-time Assistant Librarians to enhance the services of our Mangawhai Branch Library - Whare Pukapuka o Mangawhai.Don't miss your chance to join our dynamic, energetic and high-achieving organisation!Supportive team culture, excellent leadership and a range of well-being initiatives.Two part-time roles: Up to 20 hours per week, including Saturdays.About the opportunityOur Library team are dedicated to providing exceptional customer experiences and ensuring that our community make the most of our wide range of services. Your role will involve assisting patrons with digital literacy, helping someone find their next great read or a coding robot from our Tutu collection, assisting with holiday programmes or events, and much more. Whether you're interacting with customers in person, through email, or over the phone, you will deliver a welcoming and efficient frontline customer service that leaves a lasting impression.Key responsibilities include:Assist customers in finding resources and troubleshoot technology issuesOrganise library resources, conduct shelf checks and ensure overall tidinessProvide support with the maintenance of membership, circulation and reserve systemsCollaborate in the planning and execution of reading programmes, events and engaging displaysThese roles will be based in Mangawhai, with some initial training in Dargaville. There are two part-time positions offering up to 20 hours per week each. Saturday availability is essential.About youWe are looking for applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to providing excellent service and can easily connect with people from all walks of life. You will be highly motivated, be a great problem solver with a can-do attitude, and enjoy getting the job done.In addition, you will have:The proven ability to handle various information requests and situationsComputer and web proficiency, including Microsoft Word and ExcelEffective time management and a proven ability to work to deadlinesStrong written and verbal communication skills1-2 years' experience in a library or customer service environment, as well as a library qualification or equivalent experience, would be advantageousWhat we offerKaipara District Council offers a flexible, supportive, and inclusive team culture within a collaborative environment.
