Assistant Director - Student Success at University of Canterbury, CanterburyFull-time 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)Continuing (permanent) positionAre you a strategic leader, passionate about delivering student success initiatives throughout their undergraduate journey?Au Mahi | What You Will DoWe have a unique opportunity for an Assistant Programme Director to take the operational lead and oversight across all UC's student success initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Student Success, you will ensure the long-term planning, development and implementation of robust frameworks for UC's Kaitoko | Student Advisory Services, lead student-facing components of Kia Angitu | the Student Success Programme and oversee the delivery of the Enrichment programme content in alignment with the university's and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic's strategic priorities. The Assistant Programme Director is the crucial link in leading pan-university change, connecting delivery with faculty and specific service unit expectations of student success initiatives.Mou | Who You AreTo be successful in this role, you will have significant experience in an education or tertiary environment, including a proven track record in enhancing student engagement, support services and outcomes.You will also have:a minimum of a Master's degree in the field of education, educational psychology or other related disciplinean in-depth understanding of an academic / education communityexperience designing and implementing strategies that align with educational institute goals and drive student successexceptional interpersonal skills, with an ability to partner with all levels of stakeholdersknowledge in analysing and utilising data to inform programme development and assess student success metricsa commitment to inclusiveness, participation, recognition, support, and sense of connection and belonging in an education settingproven experience in designing and implementing effective student support programmes that enhance retention and graduation ratesnatural leadership skills, to independently lead and develop a highly motivated and efficient teamskills in managing and maintaining budgetsexperience working with external funding agencies and other key stakeholdersbe a pragmatic leader, have lateral thinking and problem-solving skillsactive commitment to upholding the values, tikanga of cultural practices and traditions, and valuing te reo Maori.Mahi Ngatahi | Who You Will Work WithThe mahi undertaken in Kia Angitu, UC's student success programme, is designed to achieve one of UC's key strategic objectives - to develop and provide a positive environment to support student success through a range of pedagogical, digital, and organisational approaches.Nga Painga o UC | Why UCNga Uara | Our Values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and tiakitanga guide our decisions and behaviour and provide a roadmap for how we do things at UC, affirming our commitment to pastoral care and support for our akonga and staff.
