Assistant Communications Advisor

The purpose of the Communications Department is to communicate and advance the messages and mission of The Salvation Army, raising awareness, understanding and internal morale, and increasing support for the Army's mission goals. The department's focus is providing strategic communications advice, publications expertise including the monthly SALT magazine, in-house design, media engagement, the territorial website and intranet, and social media channels.
About the Role: Provide communications support to the Communications Department, particularly to the Digital and Brand Engagement Manager and the Web Content Manager.Provide administrative support to the Communications Department.What will your responsibilities be: Assist with Digital and Social Media.Write copy for the Salvation Army magazine SALT and other related tasks.General administration and support.Assist with accounts and other financial requirements of the department.Our ideal candidate will have: Excellent written and oral communication skills.Knowledge and experience in managing digital media would be an advantage.MS Word and Excel experience.One or two years previous experience in communications and/or administration would be an advantage.Good cross-cultural understanding and ability to work cooperatively.A bachelor's degree in communication or other job-specific appropriate degree.Our offer to you: 5 additional days leave.Discounted Medical Insurance with Southern Cross.TSA discount card for discounts with various retailers such as Beaurepairs, Noel Leeming, Placemakers and Torpedo7.Free confidential counselling services to support your wellbeing.Subsidised flu vaccinations.Candidates should be adaptable, energetic, self-motivated and committed to our mission of 'caring for people, transforming lives and reforming society.'
This role is permanent/full time, and hours worked will be 37.5 per week.
