Our own Bach Cafe at Ocean Spa are searching for their next talented Assistant Chef to join our energetic and friendly team on a part time basis.
In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in the seamless operation of The Bach Cafe, ensuring impeccable food service standards. Your responsibilities will encompass food and beverage preparation, upholding rigorous standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality control.
Responsibilities will include:
Uphold stringent food safety, hygiene, and quality control protocols, maintaining pristine cleanliness in both kitchen and dining areas while meticulously documenting relevant records.
Serve as Duty Manager when necessary, guaranteeing exceptional service and compliance with all legal regulations concerning alcohol service.
Ensure efforts to minimise food wastage by actively monitoring inventory levels, executing timely orders and audits, and implementing effective portion control measures.
Collaborate closely with the Café Lead and Head Chef to devise operational strategies and enhancements to elevate our service standards.
Oversee the opening and closing procedures of Ocean Spa's café operations in the absence of the Café Lead, ensuring smooth transitions and operational efficiency.
Execute equipment maintenance tasks and coordinate pest control measures in kitchen areas in alignment with our maintenance and pest control plan.
Conduct daily cash-up procedures as directed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Level 3 NCEA or equivalent
New Zealand Diploma in Cookery Level 5, or equivalent (not essential)
Unit standard 167 Certificate in Food Handling (not essential)
Full driver's license is essential
Previous experience in hospitality food preparation and service
Menu preparation & Budget management
Excellent customer service skills

This is a 20 hours per week rostered position, which will include some weekends. We will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person.
