Within Mitre 10the role of the Assistant Category Manager is to support theCategory Manager/s to successfully deliver on their strategies andplans, whilst developing the skills necessary to become a Category Managerwithin the organisation. In conjunction with this, the Assistant CategoryManager plays a critical role in continually improving the range, promotionaloffer and supplier relationships within the Mitre 10 business.
This roledoes give you the opportunity to take some product ownership within the divisionand while you will begin your time with Mitre 10 in one division, youmay move between categories/divisions over time to grow your knowledge andexperience.
For thisposition we seek someone with good relationship building skills, experience inMS Excel, commercial acumen, and the ability to drill down into issues to comeup with possible solutions that will help the product ranges to continue togrow and thrive.
Inaddition, we are looking for someone who has:
Theability to understand the financial and business drivers behindcategory management;Confidencein dealing with suppliers, conducting range reviews and presentingrecommendations in a convincing and intuitive manner;Knowledgeand passion for the retail industry, and a strong team player who is adaptableto change;Flarefor promotion, being able to drive inspiration and solution selling;Communicationconfidence, with the potential to instil trust and confidence; andAgeneral knowledge of the building industry or building materials would behelpfulThehigh EQ, self-awareness, personal resilience and a senseof humour required to thrive driving considerable change.The roleoffers the opportunity to work on Auckland's North Shore in a positive, fastpaced environment that is stimulating to work in.
