Visionwest exists to address homelessness, reduce poverty, support the elderly, and ensure young people have hope for the future. With over 1,300 support workers spread throughout offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Rotorua, we work throughout West Auckland, North Auckland and North Shore, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and the Rotorua Lakes district / Taupo regions. Mo te turanga | About the role Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Accountant is responsible for providing accurate & timely support to Finance and the wider Trust. This role will be for 20 hours per week over 5 days. Key responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant role include: Maintaining ledgers and daily financial transactions. Identifying discrepancies in ledgers and accounts, tracking them to the source and correcting them. Assisting Accounts Payable and Receivable team as required. Preparing monthly reconciliations. Assisting with Payroll related tasks as and when required. Working with the finance team in creating financial reports for management and team members. Assisting with the annual audit. Other adhoc finance tasks to assist the finance team. Skills and attributes we are looking for include: Intermediate Excel skills and sound IT/Microsoft Office skills. A sound knowledge of accounting principles, management accounting or commercial business systems & experience in accounting packages. An analytical thinker with good communication, time management and problem solving skills and the ability to plan effectively and take accountability for delivering on expectations. Skills to improve the efficiency & quality of existing processes & systems to create new opportunities and a desire to grow in skills & knowledge. The ability to work independently and as part of a team along with strong relationship management and team skills. He aha tau e whiwhi ai? | What's in it for you?
