About the role We are seeking an intermediate-level Assistant Accountant to play a key role in supporting our operational accounting processes. This pivotal role acts as a bridge between our Accounts team and the Financial Controller, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly. You will oversee key functions, be the go-to person for our Accounts team, and support the Financial Controller with essential processes. The day-to-day work includes: Being the go-to for the Accounts team, addressing queries and troubleshooting issues related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, banking and daily payments.Manage the month-end closing process, and ensuring timely and accurate monthly management accounts.Review balance sheet reconciliations and process GST, FBT, and annual tax returns.Oversee our payroll function, coordinating with our outsourced provider to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies.In return for your hard work, we commit to:Investment in your career! A leader trained in being a leader - we are so proud of this.To be considered for this role, you must have these skills, experience and attributes:Accounting or Finance degree required; and we'd be impressed if you were actively pursuing or interested in completing your chartered accountancy papers.At least two years of commercial experience in a business environment, with a good practical understanding of business operations.Excel expertise and an inquisitive mind - data analysis, pivot tables, VLOOKUP etc. are a breeze for youPrevious payroll experience is a bonus (but is not essential if you are a quick learner); you will oversee (but not directly manage) day-to-day payroll activities.
