NorthTec is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to support our financial operations within our Finance team. This position is ideal for recent graduates or those nearing completion of their accounting qualifications, as well as candidates with relevant experience. Reporting to the Corporate Accounts Manager, you will support areas such as Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Assets, Banking, and General Ledger, while assisting with month-end and year-end reporting processes. Primary Objectives Finance Operations Reporting and Reconciliations Systems Management Key Responsibilities General Ledger and Asset Ledger Management: Assist the Accountant in managing and maintaining the integrity of the General Ledger and Asset Ledger. Transactional Support: Provide support to the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams, ensuring smooth financial transactions. Finance Service Improvement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance finance services and delivery through effective relationships. Reporting Accuracy: Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting, contributing to informed decision-making. Qualifications and Experience Relevant tertiary level qualification in Accounting or Finance. Experience in a similar role, preferably within the tertiary education sector. Working knowledge of accounting concepts and internal control requirements. Prior experience working with ERP systems. Proficiency in accounting software TechnologyOne (TechOne) and Microsoft Excel. Skills & Attributes: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. High-level analytical and conceptual skills. Ability to problem-solve—identify issues, analyse alternatives, report, and implement recommendations. A proactive approach to continuous improvement.
