Job Description The opportunity We are looking for an Assistant Accountant with exceptional bookkeeping skills who will work closely with the Financial Accountant to ensure accurate financial reporting.
This role involves managing all MNZSTTS related payments and analysis, management of Fixed Asset Register, Bank Reconciliations and expenses analysis.
This role involves a mix of statutory and management accounts, it maintains and evaluates records of financial transactions, makes general ledger reconciliation and records cashflow management in both journals and our financial accounting systems.
The hours are a minimum and maximum of 40 hours per week.
The role is based at our Ellerslie office in Auckland, and you must be able to work from the site.
The minimum salary for this role is $65,.00 and the maximum is $75,.00 depending on skills and experience.
Key responsibilities Preparation of GL reconciliation, variance analysis and journal accounting entries for Cash, Credit and Fixed Asset Accounts Provide critical support for Manaaki New Zealand Short-Term Training Scholarship Programme (MNZSTTS): Have a good understanding of the MNZSTTS program Prepare weekly payments for scholars and other upfront payments to students thru Armourguard which includes compliance check against the contract with Education New Zealand Assist Financial Accountant in preparing MNZSTTS Forecast for submission to Education New Zealand Perform analysis on Budget vs Actual report and work with ENZ counterpart to track budget and spending for MNZSTTS Programme Participate in system implementation and improvement projects impacting Assistant Accountant Processes Perform compliance review of approved Continia expenses to ensure transaction is aligned with company policy and send exceptions to Financial Controller Perform daily accounting tasks such as recording transactions, posting journal entries, and reconciling accounts.
Maintain accurate and up to date financial records and documentation.
Review transactions under Fixed Asset Clearing Account to ensure compliance with Accounting Standard and Company Policy Prepare list of Fixed Assets for capitalization and submit to Accountant for review and approval Process monthly depreciation and capitalization of approved Fixed Assets Desired Skills and Experience What you'll bring A minimum of 3 years' commercial experience in financial or management accounting role.
A tertiary qualification (Bachelor's degree at minimum) in Business, Commerce, Finance, or similar relevant discipline.
Preferred experience in and understanding of the education industry.
Proficiency in using accounting software, CRMs and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Excellent attention to detail Excellent communication and English skills; both written and verbal, including a proven ability to translate to non-financial stakeholders.
