• Fixed-term, 12 months• Part-time, 20 hours• Key position in our Greenspace Parks and Facilities TeamJoin the Waimakariri District Council, where we are dedicated to supporting our teams' professional growth while having a positive impact on our community.We are looking for an Assets Officer to oversee our District Street, Reserves, and Cemetery Tree Maintenance contract, ensuring the health and sustainability of our urban forest and adherence to Council guidelines and contract specifications.In this crucial role, you will be responsible for:Contract Coordination: Oversee daily operations of the tree maintenance contract, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met and work is completed on time and within budget.Vendor Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact for the tree maintenance contractor, facilitating clear communication, problem-solving, and maintaining high work standards.Work Scheduling and Coordination: Develop and manage work schedules for tree maintenance, pruning, and emergency services, coordinating with contractors and other council departments as needed.Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with health and safety standards, including conducting risk assessments and health and safety audits.Quality Control: Perform regular inspections to verify compliance with contract levels of service, industry standards, and council policies.Sustainability and Environmental Considerations: Advocate for sustainable tree care practices, ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and supporting the council's green initiatives.The successful candidate will:Hold a minimum of National Diploma Level 5 or National Certificate Level 6.Have at least 2-3 years experience in a similar role.Ideally have an understanding of local government processes and administration.Be an excellent communicator with strong customer service skills.Be a results-focused team player, motivated to achieve great outcomes for our teams and wider community.If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you – apply today!Applications close 17th November 2024.The Council is an equal opportunity employer.
