About the Role - The purpose of this job is to complete maintenance and capital works plans for Council property and facilities, coordinate maintenance and renewal programmes and ensure relevant legislative requirements (eg asbestos management, building warrants of fitness) are met. Reactive maintenance of the many and varied Council owned properties across the district plus other projects will also come your way from time to time.
Do you have what it takes? - This is a busy role and if you want plenty of variety, this role has it from completing and maintaining condition assessment and maintenance plans for a wide range of Council facilities and leased buildings, developing maintenance and capital works plans for Council buildings and implementing an inspections programme for Council leased land. This role will also be responsible for managing planned maintenance and renewal programmes for Council sundry properties including fencing, weed control and spray programmes, coordinating Building Warrant of Fitness contracts and remedial works, completing JSA (Job Safety Analysis) for in house and contracted work and undertaking site inductions and health and safety audits of contractors.
About You - You are a talented team player with a positive can-do attitude who has demonstrated experience in property asset management, preferably in a local government environment or qualifications and experience in building related trades (Trade Certificate or Diploma. You will have knowledge of building maintenance, ie able to assess the age and condition of materials and accurately estimate timeframe for replacement, repair and experience in coordinating and managing contractors. In addition, you will also have basic knowledge of land maintenance such as fence conditions, basic pasture quality, weed identification and control and hedge maintenance requirements and an understanding of hazards of asbestos - training in identification and sampling would be advantageous but training will be provided.
The ability to produce quality work and work within tight time frames is essential, as is a full driver's licence. You will be a person of high integrity, can work unsupervised, take a practical approach to problem solving and decision making and is physically fit as this role requires you to walk fence lines, climb fences and ladders etc.

The salary range for this position is between $73,890pa and $82,100pa and the appointed starting level will be dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed during interviews with shortlisted candidates.
