This full-time position is available in either Mangawhai or Dargaville with WFH options.
About the opportunity: This role leads the strategic management of local roads across the Kaipara District, ensuring the effective delivery of asset management planning services for our roading network.
You will oversee asset management plans, lead renewals programmes, and ensure alignment with business cases for funding.
Alongside managing key external relationships with contractors and stakeholders, you'll also provide leadership to your team, driving performance and collaboration to maintain high standards across the district's transport infrastructure.
Key responsibilities also include: Maintain a strategic overview of roading assets and operations, leading the development of maintenance and renewals programmes.
Ensure business cases support maintenance budgets and funding applications.
Monitor maintenance strategies to align with service targets and Council objectives.
Manage service providers, leveraging new technologies for asset management.
Collaborate with contractors and authorities to optimize decision-making and efficiency.
About you: We are looking for someone with exceptional relationship management and interpersonal skills, coupled with strong strategic and analytical capabilities.
Effective communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills are essential.
Your expertise in time and scope management will ensure successful project outcomes.
In addition, you will have: An engineering qualification (NZCE Diploma or Degree), with BE, CPEng, or CMEngNZ preferred.
A minimum of 8 years' relevant engineering experience, focusing on asset management planning for road maintenance and renewals.
Proven expertise in programme and business case development.
Experience in local government operations.
