Asset Engineer - Secondary Assets

Details of the offer

Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Engineering) Full time Competitive salary plus medical and life insurance Location: Tauranga, New Plymouth or Palmerston North About Powerco The energy industry is on the verge of a radical transformation. Here at Powerco, we're busy keeping the lights on and gas flowing to more than 430,000 homes, businesses and organisations across the North Island. If you're an engineering professional looking for your next challenge, it's time to join the fast-paced, exciting company that powers NZ's largest electricity distribution network. About You We're looking for candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, BEngTech, or NZ Diploma in Electrical Engineering, combined with relevant industry experience—at least five years in asset management, construction/maintenance, or engineering roles within the electrical power supply industry. You should have a strong technical understanding of electrical secondary assets, including knowledge of failure modes, lifecycle management principles, and risk assessment methodologies. Proven expertise in managing secondary systems such as protection relays, SCADA, RTUs, and DC systems is essential. You should be comfortable supporting investment decisions and maintaining alignment with Powerco's asset management strategies. Experience with asset analytical modelling tools and techniques, such as CNAIM, and proficiency in data analysis to inform decision-making is highly desirable. In addition to your technical skills, we're looking for strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams and external stakeholders. A continuous improvement mindset, along with the ability to assess task urgency, prioritise effectively, and manage workloads efficiently, will set you apart in this role. Our Investment in You Life is good here at Powerco. You'll join a fun, tight-knit group of dedicated, passionate people and play a key role in a company that connects communities. In addition to competitive salary offerings, health and wellness packages, you'll also get the satisfaction of playing an important part in helping us deliver an essential service to our communities. We're flexible – we believe in a mix between home and office. At Powerco, we focus on growing talent and provide opportunities to develop through a technical or leadership pathway. We believe we are better together. Application Process If you're after an engineer role within the New Zealand electrical industry, get in touch, and let's talk about how you can join us at Powerco. Please see the position description for full details, roles, and responsibilities of this role. Our ability to get the best out of people is what sets Powerco apart. We realise that candidates – especially from underrepresented and neurodiverse backgrounds – often won't apply for roles unless they meet ALL the criteria. We encourage anyone who shares our passion for connecting communities to apply for any role that aligns to your strengths and interests. We will provide a safe space where you can bring your whole self to work and thrive.
