ABOUT SPACE SYSTEMS AT ROCKET LAB: Rocket Lab's Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more.
Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defense sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO: As a member of the Avionics Reaction Wheels Production team at Rocket Lab's site in Auckland, you will be part of the team assembling high precision spacecraft components.
To be successful in this role, you must possess a very high level of attention to detail and produce work to an exceptional standard.
Key aspects of the role include: Reaction Wheel Assembly Operation of assembly and test stations Assembly of electrical components Test subassemblies and components using specific test equipment Receive training on functional testing equipment, software driven tests and operating thermal chambers.
Use common hand tools - screwdrivers, pliers, spanners.
Use specialist tools and equipment: torque drivers, milliohmeter, multimeter, DC power supply etc.
YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: Relevant industry experience in rote production line assembly Have a working understanding of standard industry ESD policy Strong eye for and attention to detail Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written A high work ethic, always seeking more responsibility THESE SKILLS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: Trade qualification - mechanical, electronics, mechatronics or similar industry experience The ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomously Able to read, understand and follow manufacturing instructions and drawings Takes initiative and remains calm under pressure Computer literate, and comfortable using smartphones and tablets NOTE: This role is full-time from Monday to Thursday and will be joining our afternoon/night shift team.
