The Area Lead offers a unique opportunity to lead the implementation of infrastructure solutions while collaborating with community boards and council officers to meet service standards. As an Area Lead, you will facilitate operational delivery, manage network maintenance, and supervise contracts to optimise service outcomes. You'll play a pivotal role in translating strategy into action, ensuring alignment with community needs, and enhancing Waitaki's natural and built environment. Engaging with stakeholders, you'll gather feedback, address concerns, and act as a conduit to inform future development. This position requires strong leadership skills, resilience, and a commitment to fostering a positive culture in line with Council values.

The preferred candidate will have:
Relevant Qualifications and Experience: A recognised and relevant tertiary qualification in a related discipline, such as engineering, project management, or local government administration, combined with significant experience in infrastructure management, operations, or similar roles.
Leadership and Strategic Planning Skills: Proven experience leading teams, developing work plans, and delivering on strategic objectives. Ability to align team efforts with community and organisational goals, while adapting to evolving needs and challenges.
Contract and Project Management Expertise: Demonstrated ability to manage contracts and projects effectively, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements, while optimising outcomes for the community.
Communication and Relationship Management Skills: Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with stakeholders, including community groups, contractors, and council members. Ability to navigate complex issues and provide clear, solution-focused advice.

Salary for this position will commence between $98,887 and $116,338 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
