The Waimate Historical Society – Timaru, South IslandThe Waimate Historical Society, located in South Canterbury, is seeking an Archivist to work in the Isobel Dempsey Research Centre. This part-time position of 30 hours a week includes weekend hours.The Isobel Dempsey Research Centre houses the community's records collection relating specifically to the Waimate District, including some early local council records.Your application should clearly demonstrate you have:A relevant qualification in Archival Management or Library and Information Studies OR substantial relevant experience working in archives or special collections, with an interest in New Zealand history.Relevant professional experience:Demonstrable independent research skills.Educational and public programme skills.Working within a team environment.Knowledge of archive standards and management practices with an understanding of trends in information management and delivery.Operational knowledge of at least one of the following:Archival and/or Library Management Systems.Resource discovery and management tools.Digital Asset Management and Preservation.The Archivist will be responsible to the Waimate Historical Society Board and assist with the management, promotion, and use of this collection to recognised professional standards.
