In New Zealand, we employ over 150 people across our locations of Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch. Join us as a Apprentice Your main responsibilities As an apprentice electrician at Schindler, you will not only learn the skills required to become a registered electrician and gain a NZ Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 4), you will also learn how to install, commission, test, maintain and repair lifts and escalators. Our apprentices will work in all parts of our business including installation, maintenance, repairs, and modernisation during the 3.5 year program. There will be opportunities to travel and work on some of the most exciting construction projects in New Zealand. You will learn how to: Install electrical wiring and equipment. Install mechanical lift components. Test, commission, and certify lift and electrical installations. Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs of systems. Planning installations and repairs While working with our experienced installers, technicians, inspectors, and engineers you will learn how to perform the tasks required of you as a lift electrician. Most of your training will happen on site and on the job. We are also the only lift company in New Zealand to have a dedicated training tower and training simulator facility.. Your mentor will help guide you through your journey. Your duties will include: Learning on the job Attend classes at tech institute. Lift and escalator installation Lift and escalator maintenance Lift and escalator repair What you bring This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who has just finished High School with a minimum of NZ NCEA level 2 (English, Maths and one other subject) or recognised equivalent or someone with existing work experience looking to make a career change or gain a qualification. We are looking for someone who enjoys building things, can solve problems, and has a desire to learn. You must also: Hold a NZ driver's license (restricted) Be a NZ citizen or permanent resident.
