Te whai wahitanga | The opportunityPart of a small, agile and dynamic team, the Principal Advisor proactively supports Te Puni Kokiri Leadership, including the Secretary and Executive Leadership Team with complex organisational development requirements.They lead the Maori development of the People, Capability and Workforce strategy, the Ahurea Ako (Learning Culture) programme, Whainga Amorangi Plan, and the implementation of Te Ahikaroa strategy.Mentoring Senior Advisors in the team and being a strong role model for kaimahi is an important part of their duties, as is having oversight of our Papa Pounamu programme plan for diversity and inclusion and our Pay Gap Action plans.This position reports to the Kaiarahi, Te Raukaha Hunga Mahi - Manager, Workforce Capability and is based in Poneke, Wellington.The appointment range for this role is between $110,165 to $136,403 per annum and the salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.Trustworthy, discreet, and diligent, you bring significant experience operating in Maori Capability Development within the Public Sector and are confident using te reo Maori to communicate to Maori audiences.Excellent standard of written and verbal communication. Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in your work, including in te reo Maori.Experience operating at a principal advisor level, and can articulate the key skills as outlined in the position description.Can provide examples of mentoring kaimahi and leading change, including leadership experience in a constantly evolving and sensitive environment.Proven relationship management and influencing skills, building, growing, and nurturing multiple, complex relationships including senior leadership.Understanding the effectiveness of Maori capability through the utilisation of effective frameworks; its integration with our role as a government agency; and its alignment with the goals of Te Puni Kokiri and the expectations of whanau, iwi, and hapu.Experience developing and implementing programmes and leading interventions that facilitate performance using Te Reo Maori me ona tikanga.Knowledge of organisational design theory and practice and proven experience working in a human resources or similar setting.Tau e whai ai | What you will get in returnTe Puni Kokiri is a diverse and rewarding working environment full of passionate people focused on discovering solutions that will assist in serving our communities.
