We work together providing holistic health and wellbeing programmes within a multidisciplinary team to support tangata whaiora affected by problematic alcohol and other drug (AOD) use challenges. We are looking for an Alcohol and Other Drug Practitioner to join our friendly team within Christchurch Men's and Rolleston Men's Prisons . The role of AOD Practitioner is prison-based and involves the completion of Clinical assessments , group facilitation and Individual clinical work within the Te Aka Tika High and Medium intensity programmes and Remand Educational Modules at Christchurch Men's Prison or within the Te Ara Tiaho programmes at Rolleston Men's Prison. Successful applicants are matched to a programme that best suits their skills and experience. As an AOD Practitioner, you will join a team of Clinical and Peer Support work Kaimahi providing a multi-disciplinary approach to working with our client group. In this role, you will be Delivering education and therapeutic groups within the prisonCompleting assessments, developing treatment plans and completing individual clinical work with Tane Whaiora to deliver a tailored approach to client needUsing a strengths-based approach to delivering elective topics and activities within the programmes To be successful in this role, you will Hold a qualification in Social Work, OT, Counselling or Mental Health and AddictionsIdeally hold or be prepared to work toward a Registration with an allied health profession such as Social Work, OT, NZAC, DAPAANZ etcHave good organisational skills Be a team playerHold a good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and knowledge of tikanga Maori /Te Reo MaoriHave a non judgmental approach to working with Tangata whaiora You will be part of a dedicated team who work across prison sites, and a valued member of the wider Odyssey and Purapura Whetu whanau. Flexibility is required to work across our three Canterbury prison-based programmes as needed to meet the needs of Tangata Whaiora .
