About Us and About the Role We have a great opportunity for talented, funny and awe inspiring Alcohol and Drug counsellors (any ethnicity) to join our whanau at Te Atea Marino.
Te Atea Marino is a Regional Maori Addiction Service, operating under the umbrella of Whitiki Maurea, part of the Waitemata District's Specialist Mental Health and Addiction Group.
We are a close-knit, supportive group who care about each other and go the extra mile when needed. We believe laughter and shared kai are essential foundations for meeting the challenges in an ever-changing workplace. We love what we do in our service and with our whaiora. We welcome like-minded individuals to help reduce the burden of addiction and related harm on the Maori people of Tamaki-Makaurau.
You don't have to speak Te reo Maori, but you must understand and commit to the principles of the Tiriti O Waitangi (partnership, protection, participation) and the importance of Whare Tapa Wha, the four cornerstones of health: te taha wairua (spiritual aspects), te taha hinegaro (mental and emotional aspects), te taha whanau (family and community aspects), and te taha tinana (physical aspects).
This is an opportunity to experience support while working in a clinical yet culturally minded team. You will be welcomed warmly by all team members, including senior staff, and learn how a tikanga approach meets the needs of tangata whai i te ora and whanau.
We have full-time positions available in our South Team, located at 7 Ronwood Avenue, Manukau.
About You We are looking for passionate individuals who have: A relevant qualification in counselling, social work, or mental healthA minimum of two years post-graduate experienceRegistration with DAPAANZ as a competent AOD practitioner or the ability to become registered within 6 months of joining our service, or registration with a professional body according to your clinical trainingSound clinical skills in assessment and treatment formulationSound clinical skills in individual and group therapy, including motivational or equivalent counselling expertiseAn understanding of Maori cultural values with the ability to incorporate those values into clinical practice or a willingness to learnThe ability to adapt to changing work environments, including locations, to ensure service delivery standards are upheldIn return, we offer: A competitive salaryThe opportunity to join our dedicated and dynamic team of like-minded practitionersMonday to Friday hours of work: 8-4.30pm - Weekends are yours!On-going cultural and clinical support to develop professional practice and competenceAccess to Kaumatua and professional supervisionRegular in-service trainingA healthy, smoke-free workplace20 days annual leave5 days study leave per annumIf you think this is you, then what's to lose?
