Each day will provide variety, as you work both in an office and in the field, meeting new people every day, while making a difference in ensuring all aspects of animal welfare compliance across Aotearoa New Zealand.In this role you will be:Ensuring investigation processes and procedures are followedManaging animal welfare complaints in the primary production sectorPreparing prosecution files where requiredMonitoring service providers and licensed establishments for compliance with animal welfareWorking with other Inspectors and Investigators to prepare and present robust prosecution cases where non-compliance is identifiedPromoting good animal welfare practicesBuilding and sustaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholdersHaving practical working knowledge of the laws under which investigations and compliance activities operate.Having experience in leading or supporting investigations in an enforcement environment is desirable.Mou - About YouTo be successful in this role you will have:Proven experience in working with livestock, animal husbandry, or veterinary services.Knowledge of farming organisations and external animal welfare agencies.Practical working knowledge or the potential to develop knowledge of the laws under which investigations and compliance activities operate including: NAIT Act, Animal Welfare Act, Evidence Act, Criminal Disclosure Act, Criminal Procedures Act, Search and Surveillance Act, Animal Products Act, and Biosecurity Act.You do not need to meet all of the role requirements to apply.
