As a part-time Animal Management Officer working two days a week and on-call every third week, you'll play an essential role in ensuring public and animal safety, encouraging responsible pet ownership, and reuniting lost animals with their families.In this role, you'll:Respond to animal-related calls, from lost pets to welfare checks.Educate the public on responsible pet ownership and local bylaws.Assist with investigations and manage animal containment when needed.Investigate Dog Control Act 1996 offences, enforce regulations, capture and impound stray or dangerous dogs.Ensure pound facilities are well-maintained, providing clean, humane care for animals in our charge.He aha taau e kawe mai | What You'll BringWe're looking for someone with:Qualifications & Licensing: NCEA Level 3 (or commitment to Level 4 in Government Regulatory Practice) and a full NZ Driver's License.Knowledge of Legislation & Policy: Familiarity with local bylaws and the Dog Control Act 1996, with experience interpreting relevant policies.Conflict Resolution & People Skills: Strong de-escalation and interpersonal abilities for engaging effectively with emotional or distressed customers.Join us in making Waitaki a better place to live, work, and visit.
