Together, living our organisational attitudes and behaviours, we will build a thriving one-team culture, enabling delivery of excellence in service for Waitaki.Mo tenei turanga mahi | About this roleAs an Animal Management Officer, you will deliver effective animal management services, engage with the community to promote responsible dog ownership and ensure Council meets its legal obligations. You'll conduct patrols to ensure compliance with bylaws, focusing on public safety and delivering education to dog owners. You will investigate offences against the Dog Control Act 1996 and carry out enforcement activities, capturing and impounding stray or dangerous dogs and ensuring pound facilities are clean, well managed, and provide humane care and handling for impounded animals.He aha taau e kawe mai | What you'll bringRelevant Qualifications and Licensing: NCEA Level 3 with a commitment to pursuing Level 4 in Government Regulatory Practice, alongside a full NZ Driver's License.Legislative and Policy Knowledge: Understanding of local bylaws and the Dog Control Act 1996, with experience in interpreting relevant policies and procedures.Conflict Resolution and Interpersonal Skills: Strong de-escalation abilities, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with emotional and stressed customers.Mo tatou | About usWaitaki District Council (WDC) is a dynamic and progressive local government organisation dedicated to serving the residents and communities of the Waitaki District.
