Our friendly Environmental Services team are seeking an Animal Control Officer. The hours of work for this position are 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday. Key responsibilities for this role include: Responding to request for service/complaints as per legislative and bylaw requirements Undertake investigations of complaints and provide written report/recommendations to team leader/manager Undertake compliance/enforcement actions including impounding dogs, property inspections, infringements Animal husbandry including cleaning, feeding and exercising dogs at the Animal Control Facility Provide education and advice to dog owners and non-dog owners What you will bring: Experience in a regulatory/compliance role Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of dog and animal behaviour Great communication with the ability to deal with difficult or confrontational situations Investigation skills, experience working with legislation and report writing would be an advantage Good physical fitness What we offer: Career progression and training/development opportunities Positive focus of employee health and well-being: Workstation assessments, free flu vaccines, EAP services, 50% off eye exams, discounted gym memberships etc Kiwisaver and Superannuation Schemes Access to sick leave from day one of employment Appointment time leave: Up to 2 hours for important appointments eg.
