Our friendly Animal Services team are seeking an Animal Control Officer.
Key responsibilities for this role include: Responding to requests for service/complaints as per legislative and bylaw requirements.Undertaking investigations of complaints and providing written reports/recommendations to team leader/manager.Undertaking compliance/enforcement actions including impounding dogs, property inspections, infringements.Animal husbandry including cleaning, feeding, and exercising dogs at the Animal Control Facility.Providing education and advice to dog owners and non-dog owners.What you will bring: Experience in a regulatory/compliance role.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of dog and animal behaviour.Great communication with the ability to deal with difficult or confrontational situations.Investigation skills; experience working with legislation and report writing would be an advantage.Good physical fitness.What we offer: Career progression and training/development opportunities.Positive focus on employee health and well-being: Workstation assessments, free flu vaccines, EAP services, 50% off eye exams, discounted gym memberships, etc.Kiwisaver and Superannuation Schemes.Access to sick leave from day one of employment.Appointment time leave: Up to 2 hours for important appointments e.g., doctor, bank, dentist.The Invercargill City Council is committed to the wellbeing and protection of children, the elderly, and vulnerable adults.
