Te whiwhinga mahi The Opportunity
We are looking for experienced Anatomic Pathologists to join our Anatomic Pathology team based at Mt Wellington, Auckland.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with NZ's largest and highly specialised community based laboratory service and to be a part of a growing area of pathology.
In this role, you will be working up to 50 hours per week. However, the actual hours of work will be negotiated with the Clinical Lead during the interview stage.
You will also work on-call and rostered hours to meet the requirements of the service when needed. APS processes a large volume of skin samples and is an ideal environment for candidates who have an interest or expertise in dermatopathology or are interested in developing expertise in this subspecialty.
We have recently been accredited by the RCPA to train candidates for a fellowship in dermatopathology and we would welcome all interested candidates.
This role does not involve autopsies, which are under the auspices of the National Forensic Pathology Service. For further details, please refer to the position description here.
Nga Pukenga Motuhake Important Skills
As the ideal candidate for this role you will be a trained Anatomical Pathologist and will either have or be eligible for vocational registration with Medical Council of New Zealand.

Ko wai matou Our Organisation
Our Anatomic Pathology Service (APS) in Mt Wellington provides services to private specialists and general practitioners with up to 500 histology specimens received per day, and a further 15-20 for non-gynaecological cytology.
The specimens cover a wide range of subspecialties in the areas of skin, gastroenterological, gynaecological, breast, head and neck, respiratory and urological pathology.
This service also provides the cervical screening programme (about 400 samples a day) for the Auckland area with about 30 gynaecological cytology smears requiring pathologist review each day.
We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand.
Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children's Hospital, located in central Auckland.
We are part of Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand, the overarching organisation for New Zealand's national health service. Te Whatu Ora leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels.
