This an exciting opportunity for Insights Analyst/s to join our new Insights Unit!
About the team:
The new Insights Unit comprises two teams in Workplace Relations and Safety Policy, Labour, Science and Enterprise. The role/s reports to an Insights Manager. These are multi-disciplinary teams of analysts, researchers and evaluators. We apply a range of analytical skills and methodologies to provide high quality evidence and insights on New Zealand across the MBIE policy portfolios for Government, MBIE, and a range of external stakeholders. Our work is interesting, topical and has impact.

Our Insights Work Programme is complex and multifaceted and covers a wide spectrum of MBIE policy portfolios, such as: migration, employment & skills, building system, economic development, science & energy. We support and influence the policy debate and provide direct advice to Government and information to stakeholders and the public.
We are looking for an Analyst/s to contribute to this work. In this role, you will have responsibility for scoping, researching, analysing and presenting insights in compelling narratives. You will also have a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement and generating new ideas and ways of doing things. You will be supporting a range of analytic, and research related activities associated with the Insights Work Programme whilst contributing to the wider MBIE policy portfolios. You will be enthusiastic with a passion for research, analysis and insights. You will enjoy working within and across teams to achieve goals and have a demonstrated ability to manage and plan work to meet deadlines.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate (several of the following):

A customer-centric approach, with the ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and to develop trust and credibility with staff and key internal customers and external stakeholders.
A proactive, can-do attitude with a high level of initiative, sound judgement and discretion
Extensive knowledge of research, evaluation or analytical disciplines
Enjoy solving complex analytical problems
A demonstrable background in the use of quantitative and analytical research methods
The ability to translate complex and technical information into compelling narratives and insights to be easily understood by non-technical staff
Foster an open, collaborative environment that encourages quality, innovation, on-going learning and knowledge sharing
Exceptional teamwork and collaborative abilities, and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise with others
Highly developed communication and writing skills
A tertiary qualification in socio-economics or a related discipline
