This is a fixed term, full-time role focused on financial analysis and relationship management with an environmental lens. Join our talented and high performing team at The Treasury Te Tai Ohanga as we create a better future for New Zealand and everyone who calls our amazing country home.
The Green Bond Team sits within New Zealand Debt Management, responsible for managing the Government's debt and overall cash flows. This role supplies critical support to the operation of the New Zealand Sovereign Green Bond Programme, which was established in 2022. In 2024, we will produce our first public impact report while continuing to build and maintain the Programme.
Key responsibilities include:
Collaboration across the public sector to gather and share information and provide technical support and advice.
Building and maintaining spreadsheets and extracting reporting from them.
Conducting gap analysis: assessing what metrics and indicators agencies can provide versus international investor expectations.
Researching and advising on the use of environmental metrics, especially in financial decision-making.
Assessing which government expenditures are suitable for the Programme.
This is a fixed term position until December 2025, with appointing remuneration between $90,041 and $105,930 per annum, based on skills and experience.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Demonstrable interest in sustainability issues and sustainable finance.
Advanced Excel skills.
The ability to think independently, take initiative and drive outcomes, especially when information is changing or is incomplete.
Strong critical thinking, analytical and writing abilities.
Strong relationship management, interpersonal and communication skills.
An appreciation for diversity and inclusion, valuing different perspectives and experiences.
