Anaesthetists - Smo - Fixed Term

Fixed Term: 12 months Applications are invited for suitably qualified Consultant Anaesthetists to join our theatre services team for a 12-month, fixed term period.

We operate over two main sites: North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals, as well as the Elective Surgery Centre and Totara Haumaru, with a wide range of clinical sub-specialities (excluding cardiothoracic, vascular, Neuro). The successful candidates will have a broad scope of clinical skills, a commitment to teaching, and to continuing medical education.

In addition, a strong focus on continuous quality improvement, personal development, and administration of departmental activities is required.

We offer a large variety of clinical work, including an Acute Pain Service, an Anaesthetic Pre-admission Service, and busy Obstetric Units in both hospitals.

There is a significant acute workload, usually requiring specialist cover on site in the evenings and weekend days to support the Registrar and Senior House Officers. This is covered by an on-call roster. Working on this roster is to be discussed with the Clinical Director.

The FANZCA or equivalent is required, and registration with the New Zealand Medical Council is essential.
