At Te Toka Tumai we are committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and providing culturally safe care. We value role modelling manaakitanga as demonstrated by Ngati Whatua in the gifting of their whenua on which our hospitals stand.

Te Toka Tumai is totally committed to creating a flexible workforce that is able to help a multitude of areas within the Perioperative environment. You'll be joining the Perioperative team who share Te Toka Tumai's values of Haere Mai (welcome), Manaaki (respect), Tuhono (together) and Angamua (aim high).

We are excited to be providing an opportunity for Registered Nurses, with relevant Perioperative history, to train toward working as an Anaesthetic Assistant. The RNAA programme is a workplace facilitated programme which aligns with, and recognises the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists standard for anaesthetic assistants (PS08).

The timeframe for a current operating room (scrub / circ) or Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse to work and complete training is approximately 12 - 14 months, depending on prior experience and learning. You need to be ready to work full time in an 'on the job' training position in addition to completing the RNAA programme theoretic components.

The cost of the training is fully funded by the directorate. Clinical preceptor support is provided throughout with clinical teaching sessions facilitated by the Programme Leader. Once training is complete there is an opportunity for you to combine this role with another perioperative role e.g. 50:50 PACU: anaesthetic assistance or 50:50 scrub / circ: anaesthetic assistance.

What we can offer you: A unique and rewarding work environment that provides a high level of job satisfaction that is always interesting. An opportunity to grow both as a person and as a professional while working with a very friendly team. A structured training programme. A safe and supportive learning environment. Support with ongoing preceptorship throughout your orientation. About you He korero mou You will be a Registered Nurse who has New Zealand registration.
