Ambulance & Events Volunteer

Details of the offer

Hato Hone St John has been serving New Zealanders and working to save lives since 1885. As well as providing Ambulance Services, our programmes and team of over 11,000 staff and volunteers are helping to build strong, resilient communities across the motu; supporting everyone in Aotearoa to live healthier, happier and longer lives.
Job Description We are currently recruiting volunteers for Urenui.
Volunteering with Ambulance & Events is a big commitment that provides huge rewards. By working at community events and on an ambulance your role is varied, but the focus is always on providing quality care to patients.
Our Ambulance & Events Volunteers provide care and support to our patients through their journey which may start at a 111 call and end either being referred to another health care provider, treated on scene, or transported to a medical facility. As an Events Volunteer you could be covering anything from local and international sports events to school fairs or a concert.
We offer NZQA recognised training and will give you all the support and education needed to make you safe and effective in the field. Once accepted, your online and classroom training and workbooks will take around 6-9 months to complete.
Qualifications Ko wai koe - About you:
You will have a desire to help people in a compassionate and professional way, embracing the diversity our communities offer and be committed to continuous learning and training. Without question, you will be trustworthy and reliable, able to display excellent communication skills (written and oral) and have great time management.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A full and clean NZ driver's licence for at least 12 months or have completed an approved NZTA advanced driving course (if full licence held for less than 12 months)
To be 18 years of age or over
New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency status
A clean police record
To be able pass Hato Hone St John assessments - physical assessment, health questionnaire, literacy and numeracy assessments and an interview
To meet our Medical Standards, a summary can be found here.
To be available for regular duty and training (approximately two 12 hour shifts and one training session per month).
