Our OrganisationTe Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (MidCentral) is part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand and provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatu, Horowhenua and Tararua regions. With a large hospital campus in Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities.We are looking for an experienced Allied Health Assistant to join us within the Post-Acute Community Rehabilitation Service (PACR) team.About the service:The Post-Acute Community Rehabilitation Service (PACR) is a collective of services primarily dedicated to supporting clients immediately post their acute care episode.What is the role about?You will be required to work under the direction of registered Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Speech Language Therapists providing clinical support and assistance to the stroke rehabilitation team when required.The tasks of these positions are many and varied and include undertaking occupational therapy and physiotherapy and speech interventions with clients under their direction in the community.Successful applicants will:Be enthusiastic, energetic, resilient, with a 'can do' attitudeHave experience and ability to work effectively within a team and under the direction of an Allied Health ProfessionalHave the ability to adapt and be flexible to trial new ways of workingHave a strong desire to help clients and whanau achieve their goalsBe sensitive to cultural differences and committed to the Treaty of Waitangi with a willingness to learn about te reo Maori and tikanga MaoriHave effective written, oral, and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and culturesHave strong organisational and time management skillsHave basic computer, IT, and clinical documentation skillsHave completed or be willing to complete 'Career Force' Health Assistant strand Qualification (level 3)Have experience working with adults in rehabilitation and community settingsHave a full, current driver's licence is essentialHave relevant residency status to work in New Zealand is essential.Come and join usEmploying over 2500 people, MidCentral offers a supportive work environment that accepts and values all employees.
