Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleWe are looking for an Alcohol and Drug Counsellor to join our supportive Mental Health and Addictions services multi-disciplinary team, covering parental leave, working part time 24 hours per week based in Whangarei. This role offers opportunities to support positive health outcomes for Maori receiving treatment and care in Northland. Your day will include AOD Assessments, referrals to appropriate services, AOD counselling to individuals/whanau and group facilitation within the AOD Service. The role also includes some triaging and duty clinician responsibilities.About the TeamWe provide a full range of mental health and alcohol and drug services including assessment, group therapy, family/whanau and individual interventions. We work with both the person and their family to achieve the best possible results.About youOur ideal applicant will have:A recognised qualification in Alcohol and Drug Studies, Counselling, Social Work, Nursing, Social Sciences or related fieldsRegistered with a professional body. If not a registered health professional, eligibility for DAPAANZ registration or Provisional Registration.A current full drivers' licence and ability to travel throughout Northland as required.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
