Ahipara/Kaitaia Face to Face Literacy CoachWe have found that the learners intend to practice their reading and writing - but do not. As a Literacy Coach, you will help our adult learners practice reading, writing, and spelling weekly, generally for half an hour to an hour either once or twice a week.We provide all the training required to coach students and create a personalised learning plan. You will work together with our student coach coordinator to develop goals and select materials and activities to help learners reach their goals. We also have coach mentors to guide and support you with your training and coaching when required.This role is very important, and by doing it, you can change an adult or teenager learner's life and that of their family. You will be helping a student who can't access a main Literacy centre and assist them in bettering their lives.RequirementsNote: Applicants must be at least 16 years old to apply.Excellent spoken English, reading, and writing skills.Reliable and patient with a friendly personality to put people at ease.A Police background check is required for this role.Time CommitmentLesson availability is to be negotiated between the coach and student but usually occurs 1-3 times a week, with 30 minutes per lesson.This volunteer role offers flexibility but is more suited to a long-term commitment and therefore not suitable for people who are looking for employment.
