Our Ahei Internship team is seeking an enthusiastic, personable, and capable Ahei Support Mentor to make a real difference in young people's lives.This is your opportunity to play a vital role in delivering our Work Readiness Skills-for-Life program, providing pastoral support, and helping interns transition into sustainable employment.About the RoleAs an Ahei Support Mentor, you will:Build meaningful relationships: Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and trusting environment that encourages open conversations and cultivates a supportive cohort culture.Deliver engaging work readiness training: Use multimedia tools, practical exercises, and conversational approaches to teach a diverse group of interns essential skills for life and employment.Provide pastoral support: Meet regularly with interns, offering guidance and mentorship in areas such as accessing grants, services, or external support. (Note: This is not a personal care role.)Facilitate meaningful opportunities: Work with the Ahei team to create training and employment pathways that empower interns to achieve their potential.Support program administration: Keep leadership updated on intern progress, maintain records, and share feedback to help refine the program.What We're Looking ForWe are seeking someone who is:A natural communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.Confident in working with diverse groups, including those with varying needs and abilities.Highly organised, with strong administrative and time management skills.Comfortable delivering training or presentations in an engaging, accessible way.Driven by a desire to create positive change in the lives of others.Experience working with youth and/or people with disabilities.Familiarity with Tikanga Maori, the Enabling Good Lives philosophy, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in service delivery.Lived experience of disability is highly valued.Qualifications and Additional RequirementsNo formal qualifications are required; however, relevant experience is highly regarded.An understanding of the New Zealand Disability Strategy and UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is advantageous.Why Join NorthAble?As part of the NorthAble team, you'll be part of an organisation that places people – clients and colleagues alike – at the heart of everything we do.
