We are a family violence support organisation for women, children, and their whanau, here to help prevent and stop domestic violence.
We are a fun, flexible, and fulfilling workplace with a dynamic team delivering meaningful services for our communities.
The Advocate / Facilitator is an exciting role within our organisation. While you will become a trained Advocate and may work directly with some clients of your own, the primary purpose of the role is to support advocacy by providing opportunities for family violence education to clients and facilitating our group programmes.
We are situated in the central North Island covering a substantial area from Taumarunui through to Waiouru, Taihape, and surrounds. We are a rural community delivering services to many small outlying areas.
Qualifications & Experience
No formal qualifications necessary. Full on-the-job training will be provided for the successful applicant.

Commitment to a positive team working environment; creating and maintaining team unity, open two-way communication, and positive support of each other
Ability to ask for help and support if needed
Have clear professional boundaries in working with tamariki/children, rangatahi/youth, and their whanau/family in crisis in a non-judgmental manner.
Ability to learn and implement a new practice approach
Clean Driver's License
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
To provide information, support, and advocacy to women, children, and whanau as required.
Lead the programme delivery for Taumarunui Women's Refuge & Support Centre
Develop panui and resources to advertise the programs and as hand-outs and information sheets for other training and to support one-on-one information sharing with the advocates.
Take a leading role in managing referrals from the police.
To advocate for the 4 cornerstones of the Women's Refuge Movement: Collectivism, Feminism, Takatapuhi – Nurturing Diversity, and parallel development.
To undertake advocacy administration as required.
Must be able to be rostered for on-call advocacy after hours/weekends.
Ability to attend hui and training out of town. Sometimes for up to a week at a time.
