About the role
NZEI Te Riu Roa is looking for a Union Advocate to join our team in the New Year. You will report to a Campaign Lead and your role will include:
Leading the advocacy, bargaining and coordination of all aspects of collective agreements
Leading pay equity claims
Developing bargaining plans prior to bargaining that build member's collective power, membership and activism
Briefing negotiation teams and member leadership groups involved in advocacy work
Providing oversight of the implementation of agreements and lead processes (such as working groups) that take place between negotiation rounds
Establishing and maintaining great working relationships with stakeholder groups
Skills and experience
- You can demonstrate strong strategic analysis and planning skills
- Understanding organising and campaigning unions
- Knowledge, experiences and understanding of collective agreements
- Bargaining or negotiation experience with strong verbal and written communication skills
