The Victoria University of Wellington Students' Association Te Aka Tauira (VUWSA) is a vibrant and progressive non-profit organisation – fully independent from Te Herenga Waka Victoria University.
Over 16,000 Victoria University students have access to VUWSA's diverse range of student services, including an independent Advocacy Service, student representation, student media, and a variety of events and welfare activities.
The purpose of the advocacy service is to provide a professional welfare advocacy and advice service to students, helping individual students and preparing advice on issues.
You will support students with academic and welfare issues including academic grievances, disciplinary matters, as well as any other issues which could negatively affect students in their studies.
Our advocacy team is made up of you and one other team member.
This is a role where you will be doing face-to-face advocacy with our wonderful students.
You will also assist our amazing executive when needed with policy and submission support.
Qualifications and Experience Experience in advocacy and welfare-related work.
Skills in negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution.
Case management skills, including interviewing, pastoral care, and follow-up.
Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Excel programs.
High standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
