Advisor, Secretariat at Department of the Prime Minister & Cabinet, Wellington Permanent opportunity - Wellington based role. The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet's (DPMC) purpose is to advance an ambitious, resilient, and well-governed New Zealand. DPMC has a unique role as the trusted advisor, leader and steward of our system of executive government.
Within DPMC, Cabinet Office provides secretariat services to the Executive Council, Cabinet and Cabinet committees. It provides impartial advice to the Governor-General, Prime Minister, and other ministers on a range of constitutional, policy and procedural issues.
The Advisor (Secretariat) role is to provide high quality, impartial and effective secretariat services to the Executive Council, Cabinet and its committees.
Advisors are assigned responsibility for providing secretariat services to one or more Cabinet committees and assisting the Secretary of the Cabinet and the Deputy Secretaries of the Cabinet to carry out the secretariat, policy and administrative functions of the Office.
To carry out the role effectively, we are looking for previous experience in a policy, research or advisory setting. Knowledge and understanding of the machinery of government is required, and an interest in the processes involved at the centre of government.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to think clearly and write accurately and succinctly under pressure.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong organisational skills, energy, enthusiasm, adaptability, and ability to work to strict deadlines and cope with changing demands and requirements in a team environment.High level of judgement, discretion and tact, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.A highly responsive approach and a commitment to supporting the Secretary of the Cabinet in maintaining an excellent standard of service to the Prime Minister, the Governor-General and Ministers.An ability to deliver high quality work output under pressure.Ta matou e tuku | What we offer The indicative salary range is $80,000 - $90,000 p/a (including KiwiSaver contributions).Appointment will be based on skills and experience.
