Job Description Advisor, PublishingPermanent, Full TimeWellington CBD Te Haeata/The OpportunityWe are looking for an enthusiastic Publishing Advisor with a legal background to join our publishing team, who play a key role in improving access to justice.
Our team is focussed on the accurate, timely and legally safe publication of judicial decisions to public access sites and ensuring all decisions comply with suppression and privacy laws.
You will be an integral part of the wider Judicial Libraries team, interacting regularly with the judiciary, Ministry and courts staff, the legal profession and the public.Key duties include:Reviewing court decisions to ensure they comply with suppression and privacy laws before publication;Anonymising, peer-reviewing and publishing tribunal decisions to ensure compliance with relevant policies and laws;Editing case law and legislation bulletins and alerts provided to the judiciary and court staff; andInvolvement in team projects and process and service improvement initiatives.
O pukenga/Skills and ExperienceTo be successful in the role you will need:A legal qualification.A good understanding of legal principles including statutory prohibitions on publication, or the ability to quickly grasp the legislative requirements around judgment publication.Exceptional eye for detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.An understanding of Te Ao Maori, Te Reo Maori me ona tikanga.Initiative and the ability to pick up new concepts, processes and systems.The ability to manage competing priorities.Resilience – there are times when you will be working on sensitive cases.

Utu a-tau/SalaryThe appointing salary for this role will be between $72,634 to $93,591 based on skills and experience.
