GovernmentWe are looking for an Advisor on Deaf Children to work as part of a trans-disciplinary team that maximises learning and promotes social inclusion for children and young people with complex learning support needs.You will play a critical role in our region's Learning Support team by:providing specialist support to babies and children who are deaf or hard of hearing, their parents/caregivers, families and whanauproviding professional support and guidance to schools, teachers and families and building the capacity of those who are best placed to support the learning of these babies and childrenproviding appropriate specialist intervention plans.Salary range: $69,966-$118,450 per annum plus 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga, including promoting tikanga and te reo Maori is essential.We will ONLY consider applicants for this position who meet the following qualification criteria:a Master OR Postgraduate Diploma of Specialist Teaching (Advisor on Deaf Children, Deaf and Hard of Hearing), or equivalentOR: a teacher of the deaf OR speech language therapist qualification with at least two years' experience in that role (completion of the Master of Specialist Teaching will be required following appointment)The following would support your application:Knowledge and experience in the development, education and audiological management of tamariki who are deaf or hard of hearingExperience and knowledge of New Zealand Sign LanguageExcellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with children, young people, their whanau, teachers and agencies across a diverse range of settingsAll applications must be submitted online via the Ministry Careers Portal.
