Salary range: GSR - E/D, $82,817 - $132,427 depending on skills and experience
We are seeking a technical assessor with a strong background in either veterinary science or chemistry/pharmaceutical manufacturing environments to join the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines (ACVM) team.
The ACVM team is responsible for managing risks to animal welfare, human health, trade, and biosecurity associated with the import, manufacture, sale and use of veterinary medicines and other agricultural compounds as defined by the ACVM Act 1997.
In this position you will be primarily responsible for undertaking the evaluation of scientific data and preparing regulatory reports using risk management principles for the purposes of authorising veterinary medicines under the ACVM Act 1997.
We are seeking an enthusiastic team member who has:
A chemistry, veterinary (or equivalent) science degree and at least two years' experience in a related field;Experience in either chemistry/pharmaceutical manufacturing or veterinary science/clinical practice environments is preferred;Excellent working knowledge and understanding of information gathering, organising and communication;Ability to apply an analytical framework to quickly understand technical issues and problems, identify solutions and their implications, form conclusions and provide advice;Excellent attention to detail and the ability to adapt and think agilely;Strong communication skills and established technical writing abilities, as report writing is a key part of the role.You do not need to meet all of the role requirements to apply.

The ACVM veterinary medicines assessment team is currently made up of nine permanent and two casual technical staff, all passionate about providing and maintaining availability of veterinary medicines that are safe and efficacious for use in both companion and production animals.
The assessment team is a high performing team, diverse in age, ethnicity, and scientific background, working collaboratively in a supportive and development-focused environment.
The ACVM veterinary medicines assessment team is Wellington-based; however, some members reside across the motu, including both the North and South Islands.
The team comes together in Wellington at regular intervals throughout the year.
