Te turanga – The role
We have multiple opportunities available to join us as an Adviser in the Prudential Policy directorate within the Financial Stability Group here at Te Putea Matua. Prudential Policy is responsible for developing the policy framework, structures and settings that underpin the regulation and supervision of the New Zealand financial system as it relates to banks, non-bank deposit takers (NBDTs), insurers and financial market infrastructure.
You will have an opportunity to join one of the two teams below here at Te Putea Matua.
Policy and Regulatory Stewardship team: They are responsible for overseeing any changes to our prudential legislation including some of the policy advice required for this as well as undertaking a stewardship role across the prudential policy directorate.
Capital and Solvency team: They are responsible for providing policy advice related to capital requirements for banks, non-bank deposit takers and insurers. Currently, they are focused on developing a capital adequacy framework for all deposit takers under the new deposit takers legislation and continuing our review of the insurance solvency standard.

You're an excellent communicator, with an analytical mind, who has the ability to provide intellectual and organisational leadership to those around you. With your in-depth understanding of the New Zealand financial system, you have the ability to scope and lead analysis to support decision-making in novel, ambiguous and complex areas, where there are no existing frameworks.
As an Adviser , you will have:
At least 7 years' relevant professional experience in public policy, regulation, relevant financial services, or a related area.
A degree in economics, finance, law, or a related discipline.
A sound track record and experience in leading, delivering on, and contributing to complex policy-related projects, in relevant fields in the public or private sectors.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, tailored for different audiences.
Experience coaching/managing individuals or small teams.
