This is why Willowbank Care Home located in Napier is searching for an Activities Assistant with a creative flair to join our community. This is a permanent, part-time position working around 20 hours per week in a 4-on and 2-off cycle which means it will include regular weekend work. The hours of work will mostly be 10am to 3pm working across both the care home and dementia communities. We are looking for a bubbly, energetic and outgoing Activities Assistant who can interact effectively with our residents and engage them in physical and mental activities, enabling them to lead healthier and happier lives.
In this role, you will be supporting the Activities Coordinator, identifying the leisure activity needs of each of the Willowbank Care Home residents based on their interests, preferences, and abilities and contribute to the planning and implementation of individual and group activities programmes.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Participate and contribute to both individual and group programme activities.
Contribute to the review and assessment of the residents' individual activities programme.
Actively promote a homely, stimulating, and pleasant environment for the residents and their families.
Develop and maintain excellent internal and external communication networks to support the activities programme.
About You
An NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level is preferred.
Previous experience in a similar role within aged care is desirable.
Display enthusiasm, empathy, and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of residents.
Demonstrate outstanding communication skills.
A fun personality with a creative flair.
A clean, full driver's licence is preferable, as you may drive the van for resident outings.
