Reporting to the Spaces and Places Team Leader, the Active Recreation Advisor will be responsible for providing advice, support and guidance to sector stakeholders to understand the value of Active Recreation across the Bay of Plenty region.As part of the National Regional Sports Trust network, Sport Bay of Plenty is a well-established and credible organisation. This position requires a person who can deliver on contractual requirements of stakeholders combined with the ability to build essential relationships within the community.The Active Recreation Advisor will work to enhance the Active Recreation opportunities across the Bay of Plenty region. The role will achieve this by supporting our local authority partners, funders, recreation providers and users to understand the value of Active Recreation and effectively respond to the changing needs and opportunities.Experience and knowledge of the sport and recreation sector is essential, and knowledge of council processes is preferable. Strong planning and communication skills are required as well as the ability to build effective working relationships and partnerships with recreation organisations, councils, funders and the wider community.Our successful candidate will be someone who has:A Degree or Diploma in sport/active recreation, education or related field and/or a suitable level of relevant experience.A passion for active recreation and a strong understanding of the benefits of physical activity.Proven ability to influence key stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.The ability to review and reflect to identify opportunities through regular evaluation of programmes and work activities.Strong planning and communication skills and proven track record of operating with professionalism.Understanding of the Play, Active Recreation and Sport sector within Aotearoa and those who contribute to it.What we offer:We're not your average workplace.
