Reporting to the Company Accountant, the Accounting Assistant will help to support the financial heartbeat of the studio.
This role is key to ensuring financial workflows are seamless, organised, and ready to meet the needs of their ever-evolving creative projects.
This is a hybrid working role where you will work from home three days per week and work two days per week in a shared office space with the Christchurch based Company Accountant.
The Cause & FX head office is based in Auckland, but this is a Christchurch based role.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: Accounts Payable: End-to-end invoice processing, approvals, coding, and preparing payment batches Accounts Receivable: Collaborate with production to manage client invoicing, handle queries, and fulfil reporting requests Bank & Credit Card Reconciliations: Perform daily reconciliations with precision Tax Filings & Compliance: Assist with GST filings and other compliance requirements Payroll Management: Process employee payroll and contractor payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance Financial Data Management: Maintain and update internal accounting databases and spreadsheets IT & Subscription Support: Help manage subscriptions and assist IT with internal reporting Financial Reporting & Analysis: Contribute to financial reporting and analysis as needed System Optimization: Enhance financial systems, including purchase order and invoice approval processes Ad-hoc Financial Support: Assist the Company Accountant with various tasks to keep everything running smoothly WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR: Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years in accounting or bookkeeping roles Technical Skills: Proficiency in Xero, payroll management, bookkeeping, advanced Excel, and MS/Google Suites Detail-Oriented: Sharp focus on accuracy and organisation while keeping the big picture in mind Problem Solver: Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines Innovator: A knack for optimising and improving processes Team Player: Collaborative, approachable, and ready to pitch in wherever needed Bonus Points: Prior experience in the film/media industry Eligibility: Must have the right to work in New Zealand , WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS: Join a company that values kindness, curiosity, teamwork, and creativity!
