NorthTec is seeking an experienced and dedicated Accountant to join our Finance team.
This pivotal role involves supporting the delivery of finance services and ensuring compliance with legal and statutory requirements.
The successful candidate will assist with various financial operations, budgeting processes, and audits while fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Primary Objectives Support finance services at NorthTec by managing daily workflows for the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams.
Effectively manage the capex budget and participate in budgeting and forecasting.
Ensure compliance with legal, statutory, audit, and risk requirements.
Enhance finance service delivery through strong stakeholder relationships.
Accurately record all financial information per professional and statutory requirements.
Support the Corporate Accounts Manager and Finance Business Partner as needed.
Key Responsibilities Finance Operations: Oversee daily operations for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams, assist with revenue management, track travel allowances, and ensure accurate IRD returns.
Reconciliations and Reporting: Prepare month-end journals and reconciliations to maintain an accurate and up-to-date asset ledger.
Financial Support and Analysis: Support financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, while training internal managers to enhance their financial understanding.
Systems Management: Maintain the procurement system, support financial system management, and test updates or patches as needed.
Compliance and Audit Management: Assist with external and internal audits to ensure compliance with all relevant reports and returns.
Service Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement in financial services by gathering stakeholder feedback and providing finance training for new staff.
Health & Safety: Follow NorthTec's health and safety procedures to ensure safe task performance and promptly report any hazards.
Qualifications and Experience Qualified Chartered Accountant with a relevant degree.
More than 5 years of experience in a similar role, covering Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets, ideally in the tertiary education or public sector.
Preferred familiarity with ERP systems and intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel.
Knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations, including their application.
